The role of nasal smear in diagnosing allergic rhinitis
SUMMARY
Cytologic examination of nasal smear is a method that has been known for a long time in rhinologic practice. However, currently this method is undeservedly neglected, even though it makes quick diagnosis possible with only the standard laboratory equipment at hand. The author describes her method of choosing the sample, staining, and evaluation. The examination of nasal smear can in part substitute for the expensive serum allergen specific IgE test.
