A normális tympanogram alapján a vezetéses jellegű halláskárosodás nagy valószínűséggel kizárható.

SUMMARY

The site and the role of the impedance measurement in the child otologic diagnostics.

On the basis of the experiences of the Otorhinolaryngologic Department, Szeged, and after the short description of the principles of the impedance measurement its role in the child otologic diagnostics is discussed by the author. In the paedo-audiology relative increase of the method’s value has been found, since it is not easy to form an opinion on the state of the tympanic membrane and often no reliable audiogram is available, which would point to the nature of the hearing impairment. On the basis of a normal audiogram the conductive hearing impairment may be excluded with great probability. Although on the basis of the stapedius reflex threshold the auditory threshold may not be defined, however, some conclusions may be drawn as to the extent of the hearing impairment. The most important practical value of the tympanometry consists of the easy and reliable detection of the disturbances of the tubal function and of the more and more increasing number of the exsudative otites.
