ÖSSZEFOGLALÁS:
A szerző fiatal férfi jobb oldali sinusitis maxillarisának súlyos, félodali vaksághoz vezető orbitalis szövődményét ismerteti. A gyulladás aetiologiája jelen esetben nem bizonyított, a fogeredet és a rhinogen infectio egyaránt elképzelhető. A n. opticus atrophiáját az orbitalis gennyedés compressiós hatásának tulajdonítja, hangsúlyozva annak fontosságát, hogy manapság, az antibio- tikus aera közben is gondolni kell e mindennapos kórkép súlyos szövődményeire is.
Maxillar sinusitis leading to severe blindness
SUMMARY
The orbital complication — leading to serious, unilateral blindness — of the right maxillar sinusitis, observed in a young man, is reported. The etiology of the inflammation could not be cleared in this case, — the dental origin and rhinogenous infection being conceivable in the same way. The atrophy of the optic nerve is attributed by the author to the compression effect of the orbital suppuration. It is pointed out that even nowadays, in the antibiotic era, the severe complications of this common disease entity must be taken into consideration.
