Tizennyolc hónapos gyermek ceruza vastagságú fadarabot vett szájba és azzal elesett. A fadarab hegye a koponyaalapig fúródott, a retrostyloid térbe, ahol a vége letört. Egy hónap múlva került a szerző osztályára, amikor már a garatsérülés nyomtalanul begyógyult, és az idegentest körül tályog alakult ki. A tályog elpusztította a facialis ideget, gennyes középfülgyulladást és mas- toiditist okozott, majd a külső hallójáratban és kifelé a nyakon a csecsnyúl- vány alatt, felszínre tört. Három hét után a letört fadarab kilökődött és a gyermek meggyógyult.

SUMMARY
A child aged 18 months put a stick of the size of a pencil into his mouth and has fallen with it. The point of the stick was drilled until the skull-base into the retro- styloid space, where its tip broke down. One month later the child was admitted to the department of the author. The pharyngeal injury has entirely disappeared and around the foreign body an abscess developed. The abscess destroyed the facial nerve, produced suppurative otitis media and mastoiditis and later reached the surface through the external auditory meatus, and the neck below the mastoid. After three weeks the broken piece of stick was thrown out and total recovery followed.
