ÖSSZEFOGLALÁS:
Most, midőn már általánosan elfogadott, hogy a szédülést gyakran a vestibularis rendszer zavarai okozhatják, egyre inkább fordulnak szédüléses panasszal a fülészhez. Valóban a koponyasérülésektől a streptomycin túladagolásig sok minden válthat ki szédülést, a belső fülben elhelyezkedő labyrinthus, ill. a vestibularis rendszer károsítása révén.
Vertigo.
SUMMARY
After general considerations about dizziness or giddiness as an expression of imbalance, vertigo is discussed as a prominent symptom of vestibular disorder. Its possible causes are grouped into central and peripheral. Those, which cannot be included as yet in either of these groups, are dealt with as unclassified. From 3116 cases upon which this paper is based, 367 proved to belong to the central and 2391 to the peripheral group. The streptomycin cases have been included in this latter group.
The most important features of the diseases belonging to each group are considered, summarized in tables, and a few words are said also about the differential diagnosis between central and peripheral lesions in dizziness.
The account stresses the significance of vertigo as a principal symptom of a disturbed vestibular system.
