Prevention and Therapy of Othorhino- laringologic Syncopes.
SUMMARY
The authors discuss the prevention of acute cardiac arrests (groupping them in accordance with the methods of anaesthesia and with surgical interventions). They recommend to perform allergic tests before using both superficial anaesthetics for the mucosa and local infiltration anaesthesia. The authors stress the importance of the use of procain in certain cases, the significance of tonogenfree novocain and potentiated local anaesthesia. They deal with the advantage of divinylether among narcotics, of intranarcon among intravenous barbiturates and of the intratracheal anaesthesia among other methods of narcosis. In order to decrease the hazards of surgical intervention they consider careful praeparation for the operation, premedication by atropini- zation, careful operation and good operative technique to be quite indispensable. In cases of syncope they take a stand on thoracotomy and immediate heart-massage against conservative treatment without considering this method of resuscitation to- be obligatory at present.
