ÖSSZEFOGLALÁS:
A torokmandula (tonsilla palatina) ritka elváltozása a polypszerű, kocsányos „tonsilla pendula”. A képződmény nemcsak mint gégészeti, makroszkópos anatómiai érdekesség figyelemreméltó, hanem kórszövettani szempontból is érdeklődésre tarthat számot.

SUMMARY
Authors state that the term tonsilla pendula (tonsillary polyp etc.) is justified only for those tonsillary appendages the histologic structure of which is identical with that of tonsils. Thus, pedunculated growths having a different structure should not be listed with the former.
Tonsilla pendula is no neoplasm, but a relatively rare hyperplasia of tonsillary tissues. It may give rise to mechanical disorders in deglutition, respiration, occasionally on phonation also. Of course, it should be removed along with the tonsil.
Authors’ main concern was the histology, all the more since the case reports dealing with tonsilla pendula are mostly based on gross examination. Finally, authors investigated the problem from the aspect of preblastomatosis, with negative results.
