Postoperativ (seeundaer) sinusthromhozisnak a sinus oly megbetegedését, thrombozisát nevezzük, amely az egészséges sinus műtéti szabaddá tétele után, esetleg sérülése következtében keletkezik.

SUMMARY
The problem of genesis and prevention of postoperative sinus thrombosis is discussed on the basis of 3519 trepanations performed in 23 years. In their opinion, the thrombosis of an exposed intact sinus, of a sinus injured during operation, and the thrombosis secondary to its postoperative spontaneous bleeding, are mainly due to tight tampons compressing the sinus and left in the infected wound for a too long time. By such tampons the own vessels of the sinus wall are compressed whereby the biologic resistance of the sinus wall to infections acting from outward is treatly impaired. By cautions and shortlasting tamponade the healing of the wound can ho abbreviated, and postoperative thrombosis of the sinus can be prevented.
