ÖSSZEFOGLALÁS:

A szerző orr-fül-gége szakrendelésen jelentkezett, otológiailag negatívnak talált „Costen syndromás” eseteket vizsgált, akiknél a temporomandibularis ízület funkcionális elváltozáséból eredő fájdalmakat észlelt. Ennek eredménye lehet ízületi kattogás és nehéz szájnyitás. Dezorientációs készülék viselése és protetikai helyreállítás a panaszokat megszünteti.

A healed case of Costen’s syndrome

SUMMARY

In the polyclinic patients with Costen’s syndrome have been examined by the author. The patients’ complaints were earache and tinnitus, but no otological changes were observed. Out of 153 patients in 32 cases pain resulting from the dysfunction of the temporo-mandibular articulation was present. This pain develops in consequence of the cessation of the functional correlation of the discus and the condylus, which may be associated also with lockjaw. The lockjaw may be ceased by wearing a desorientation (bite lifting) apparatus, —in this the pains are alleviated and then ceased.
