ÖSSZEFOGLALÁS:
Az antibioticumok (abi.-ok) szakmánk területén is döntő változásokat hoztak. Csökkent a súlyos acut fertőzéses megbetegedések (tonsillogen-, otogen-, rhinogen sepsis stb.) száma és magas mortalitása. A szövődmények leküzdhetőkké vagy elkerülhetőkké váltak s jelentősen rövidült a betegség tartama. Új módszerek alakultak ki a hallásjavító fülműtétek területén és a daganatos gégesebészetben.
A kezdetben általánosan bevált ún. ,,nagy abi.-ok” — Penicillin, Streptomycin — használatát azonban világszerte korlátozzák a kórokozók egyre gyakrabban jelentkező resistentiája (7) és a mind nagyobb számban mutatkozó — olykor súlyos allergiás reactio (12).

SUMMARY
After the pharmacological description of chloramphenicol and its effect the author reports on the by-effects of the drug and on the preparates which may be given pa- renterally. The clinical material containing 97 patients is divided into two groups : in 39 cases the drug has been used with good results in patients with infections of soft tissues of the neck in rhinogenous and otogenous infectious conditions. In one part of these cases surgery has been carryed out. In 58 cases of chronic bone-cavity suppurations the drug has been administered in combination with other preparates. It may be established that chlorocid may be given with good results combined with powder of boric acid, cortioson, Napba,solin, if needed with trypsin, hyason and anti- histamin for the treatment of chronic inflammations of the tympanum and sinuses. By these combinations adequate effects may be obtained not only on the pathogens but on the organism itself too.
