ÖSSZEFOGLALÁS:
Az idült középfülgyulladás igen elterjedt. Halláscsökkenéssel jár és élet- veszélyes szövődményeket okozhat, gyógyítása elsőrendű feladat. Eltekintve a szövődményektől, melyeknél a sebészi megoldás az egyedüli helyes eljárás, a legtöbb epi- és mezotympanális folyamat kezelése igen hosszadalmas és gyakran nem hozza meg a kívánt eredményt.

SUMMARY
Starting from the German “Mucidan-ear-drops” Rhenania, author devised a more effective preparation. It contains 50 p. c. potassium rhodanate, 10 p. c. formaldehyd, and 0.2 p. c. gelatine, in a colloidal solution. It is diluted with a 20 p. c. sulfathia/.ole solution (CIF) in a proportion of 1 : 10 to 1 : 16. This preparation is applied as an ear drop, and insufflated through the Eustachian tube by means of a Pohtzer’s bag. Author treated with this method 309 patient. In 80 p. c. clinical restitution ensued on an average after 5 treatments. Hearing improved in one fourth of the restituted cases, closure of small perforations of the drum was attained in 35 patients. The proper concentration of the solution is a significant factor. The interruption of treatment at a proper time is no less important.
